Research Interests: Computer Networks, Network Security, Information Security, Ad-hoc and Sensor Networks Research Experience: 1) Evaluating Resilience of the Internet to Security Attacks (Jan ’07 – Present) Advisors: Dr. Sonia Fahmy and Dr. Charlie Hu, Purdue University - Focus on Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), the Interdomain Routing Protocol in internet - Released a freely-downloadable Toolset written in C++ that computes AS relationships - Working on analyzing the dynamics of BGP which will help in evaluating resilience 2) Fault Tolerant Data Dissemination Protocols in Sensor Networks (Aug ’04 – Dec ‘06) Advisors: Dr. Saurabh Bagchi and Dr. Edward J. Coyle, Purdue University - Designed a fault-tolerant energy aware data dissemination protocol for Sensor Networks - Worked on GTSNets, a discrete event simulator in C++ used for Sensor Networks - Modified lower layers of the simulator and developed various applications to run on top of the lower layers - Resulted in publications in IEEE WCNC ’07 and IEEE VTC ‘07 3) Reliable Data Dissemination using Trust in Sensor Networks (Jan ’05 – Dec ’05) Advisor: Dr. Saurabh Bagchi, Purdue University - Designed a protocol for data dissemination using trust in hierarchical sensor networks - Uses a metric ‘trust’ maintained at each node for its neighbors - Protocol builds on TIBFIT, which uses trust for determining location of events - Uses trust for multi-hop routing to the Base Station - Reduces location determination error in the event of malicious nodes - Resulted in a Fast Abstract publication in IEEE DSN conference 2005

4) Design of IEEE 802.11g compliant Wireless LAN system (Aug ’03 – Apr ’04) Advisor: Dr. Saswat Chakrabarti, I.I.T. Kharagpur - Part of a team developing Physical layer and MAC layer design compatible to the standard. - Simulated IEEE 802.11g Physical layer with bit rates till 54 Mbps. - Simulation was used in hardware implementation of the standard. 5) Equalization of 10 Gb Ethernet (GbE) multimode fiber links (May ’03 – Jul ’03) Advisor: Dr. Stephen E. Ralph, Georgia Institute of Technology - Simulated complete 10 GbE multimode fiber optical link using measured multimode fiber responses for different lengths of fiber. - Applied Decision Feedback Equalization (DFE) to the optical link. - Demonstrated reach extension of the optical link to 300 m. which is a 4x improvement over the existing IEEE standard of 82 m (for a BER requirement of 10-12). - Resulted in a publication in IEEE LEOS Conference, 2003 Work Experience: 1) Research Assistant, Purdue University (May 2007 – Present) - Released an open-source Toolset written in C++ that computes AS relationships - Toolset uses publicly available BGP routing tables and applies a well-known algorithm 2) Teaching Assistant, Purdue University (Aug. 2004 – Aug. 2006, Jan 2007 – Aug 2007) - Instructor for ECE 207: Electronic Measurement Techniques laboratory - Organized laboratory experiments, prepared weekly quizzes and assigned final grades - Helped improve my communication, interpersonal and organizational skills 3) Research Assistant, Purdue University (May 2006 – Dec. 2006) - Working on GTSNets, a discrete event simulator in C++ used for Sensor Networks - Developed a new Protocol, SPMS-Rec for optimizing energy consumption 4) Summer Intern, Georgia Institute of Technology (May – July 2003) - Simulated an optical fiber link using Matlab - Involved measurement of optical fiber response & signal processing operations 5) Project Member, School of Telecommunications, IIT Kharagpur (Jan. 2003 – May 2004) - Simulated Physical layer of IEEE 802.11a standard for Wireless LAN - Simulations done in C++ were used for implementation of the standard Publications: 1) Ravish Khosla, Xuan Zhong, Gunjan Khanna, Saurabh Bagchi and Edward J.
